Track Opening Clean Up Day/ & G.E.A.R. Meeting

Track Opening clean up day will Saturday March 22^nd 2007 10:00 AM. GEAR meeting first then track clean up afterwards. Bring your weed eaters, shovels and rakes. Rider Appreciation Race

On Saturday April 5^th sign ups 10-11 AM. Only an $7 race fee for all riders Trophies or stamps. We will have ghost motos winners of those motos will earn a special prize. We will have GEAR Handbook & applications available for riders/families to join GEAR for 2008 during intermission.

 

ATTENTION 2007 GEAR FAMILIES   Banquet

After the races on Sat. 4-5-08 we will have 2007 GEAR banquet at the track, we will offer Free hotdogs for 2007 GEAR members families. 2007 GEAR families please bring a side dish if your name starts A-L if your last name starts with M-Z bring a dessert.  We will announce 2007 top 10 GEAR riders and issue awards, 2007 GEAR riders will vote for 5 rider awards. YOU MUST be a 2007 GEAR member to vote. 2007 Volunteer of the year will also be announced.

     Track Rules

We will have copies in registration, you will need to sign that you have read and agree to race at EPBMX. We have made a few changes for 2008 race season. The ABA also has made some major rule changes also for 2008 race season.

 Regular Race

 We will race the 2008 race season on Fridays only. We will run special races periodically every month.

$9.00 for a trophy/stamps. NO ribbons any more …

We will offer a discount of one Free $9 race when you or a family members volunteers 7 times.

  Renewing ABA Memberships & New ABA Memberships

It is VERY important that you renew your ABA membership at EPBMX. We get 5 points for reach renewal and 10 points for each new member. These points determine where the Kansas State final will be held. We are in competition with other Kansas tracks from June to June of each season. We offer a FREE race fee when you renew, or purchase your membership at EPBMX

  Rule changes from ABA for the 2008 Race Season

1. A rider determined by an official to have intentionally impeded the progress of another rider during the first 30 feet of the race may be disqualified. To facilitate this rule it is recommended that a clearly visible line extend across the width of the track placed at a point 30 feet from starting gate.

 

2. When on final straight, a rider determined by an official to have intentionally impeded the progress of another rider may be disqualified.

 

3. Any rider earning a National Age Group (NAG) ranking will be ineligible for district year-end ranking and any district year-end award. Any subsequent riders in there district point standings will move up in the district year-end point standings to fill the open positions. However NAG riders will still be eligible for 20,000 points award and other promotional programs.

 

 

Any questions need to talk to your tracks operators / board members. We will have rulebooks available when we open in April. You can also download from ABA website the official rulebook. New rules are in gray in the BMXer magazine Nov./ Dec. 07-issue page 40.

 Group Effort Association for Riders (G.E.A.R.)

First question is what is GEAR? Visit track website http://www.emeryparkbmx.com/GEAR.htm Good time to join GEAR is early in season, but any time is good time to get I involved. When a parent signs up 2 families for GEAR we will offer you a FREE race! Must notify Dayna or Nikki when signing up new GEAR members.

 

We will have a GEAR meeting on Saturday March 22^nd 2007 10:00 AM at EPBMX during our track clean up day. We will have 2008 schedule available & GEAR Handbooks memberships. GEAR Handbooks & applications are downloadable from website or ask in registration for a copy.

 

 Rider Improvement

Josh Brown will offer Rider Improvement class on Thursdays from 6:30 – 8: 30 PM. Limited to 16 riders.  Cost is  $10.00 per rider. Must reserve spot by Monday prior to class. If you can’t attend class please call ASAP, so another rider can have spot in rider improvement for that day. We will try to offer other Clinics periodically through out the race season. Please check website and email.

Track Clean Up

Will be on 2^nd and 4^th Wednesday of the month from 6-7 PM. If you help on track clean up, your gate drops are FREE.

Prior to big race events we will have special track clean up days. Be sure to check website, hotline or your email. Mark your calendars for our opening day clean up Saturday March 22^nd, 2008 10:00 AM. GEAR meeting first then track clean up afterwards.

We will have gate drops from 7- 8 PM every Wednesday Cost is $3.00 per rider.

 Help on 2^nd & 4^th Wednesday of the month 6-7 PM on track clean up and your gate drops are FREE.

1^st gate drop of 2008 race season will be Wednesday April 9^th, 2008.

 

Full Moon Series May - October 2008

 We will run the Full Moon series. This is done on a point system. Attendance Promotion

EPBMX we are offering attendance promotion. Race May to June 2008 every single point event, including the Full moon series. We will award the top 10 riders prizes. The # 1 rider will get to race for FREE all single point races the month of July. In case of ties for #1 we will put all who tied in a hat and draw the winner.

Volunteering Many thanks to all who volunteer at EPBMX to make racing possible for families of Wichita, KS. The 2008 race season when you volunteer 7 times you can race one $9.00 race FREE. Any board member will have to issue you a coupon. Race Director James Brown and Vice President Nikki Winkler are responsible for finding and recording volunteers.

Step up and help keep the racing going for the youth of Wichita.  NO EXEPERINCE NEEDED, just a desire to learn and to keep EPBMX running.

PLEASE if everyone would help just once a month. EVERYONE could watch their child race most the time and others who not get burned out. Remember volunteers who volunteer for their kids and YOUR kids at EPBMX.Lets all work together for our track and most of all the kids of EPBMX.

New Rider Pamphlets and EPBMX Flyers

This year we will have a tri fold pamphlet for new rider info. If you need or would like a flyer to pass out to others, or put up at your place of employment? You can pick up a copy in registration or download from the track website. Lets get more riders at EPBMX.

New Rider/Parents Mentors We need seasoned parents/riders to help the new riders when they register with Moto boards, staging etc. This only takes about 15 minutes before the races to help guide them. But is a tremendous help to new riders/ parents. Remember when you all first started BMX?  I do it was overwhelming to figure out how the system works. Concessions Stand This is the place that no one wants to volunteer. You know if we all worked together and worked 20/30 minute shifts. We all would get to see our kid’s race.  Or if you could come early and set up or stay late and clean up? Would be a BIG help. Friendly reminder please be patient when concessions is closed during races, the volunteer is trying to watch their child race. Recruiting of new Riders

When you bring a friend and they sign up for a FULL ABA membership, they get a FREE race and so will you. Must notify person in signups to get FREE races. We will then put riders names who found the new rider in a box and at the end of month draw for another FREE race  & special prize.  The more riders you recruit more chances you have of earning FREE races at EPBMX. So ask for an EPBMX pamphlet and start recruiting more riders. More riders better for EVERYONE!!!

ABA One-Day Memberships This will be offered again this year from the ABA. But new rider will have to pay the race fee for that day. Bring your friends to come try BMX. Minors must have a parent/ guardian with them to sign form. If they try on FREE 1 day membership and like and sign up that day for full membership we will apply that days entry fee to ABA membership cost. Be sure and ask for them our EPBMX new rider pamphlet and ABA New Rider Manual. Remember bring a new rider you both race FREE .Who ever brought new riders, name goes in a baskets and end of each month will draw for another FREE EPBMX race. MUST tell Person in sign ups when m new membership is being bought.  Offer ONLY good one Full ABA memberships.

  Grade Card Incentive During the 2007-08 school year, when you receive the highest grade available on your report card from your school’s grading scale, you will receive $1 discount off of your race fee. The maximum discount is $9 off every 9 weeks grading period. You will need to bring in your report card the day you want your discount. This discount is only on report cards, not on progress reports and for report cards that are received during the race season.
